### U.S. Central Command: We Destroyed a Houthi Drone and Two Ballistic Missiles
The U.S. Central Command announced that its forces successfully destroyed a Houthi drone and two anti-ship ballistic missiles launched by the militias from areas under their control in Yemen over the Red Sea.
In a statement, the command clarified that “these weapons posed a clear and imminent threat to U.S. and coalition forces, as well as commercial vessels in the region.” It added that “this reckless and dangerous behavior by the Iran-backed Houthis continues to threaten regional stability and security.”
### Tensions in the Red Sea
It is noteworthy that the U.S.-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes for months targeting Houthi positions in various regions of Yemen in response to their maritime attacks, which have been met with periodic retaliations by the group.
With the intervention of Washington and London, and the escalation of tensions last January, the Houthi group declared that it now considers all American and British vessels as military targets.
