### Trump Responds to Doubts Over Bullet Wound to His Ear

#### Trump: “Unfortunately, it was a bullet that struck my ear forcefully. There was no glass, and there were no fragments.”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump addressed Friday the doubts raised about the wound to his ear during an assassination attempt by reposting a statement from his former doctor, affirming that the injury was caused by a bullet, not a “fragment.”

Dr. Ronny Jackson, Trump’s former physician and now a Republican congressman from Texas, wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, owned by the former president: “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet.” Trump shared the statement again.

FBI Director Christopher Wray told U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday that there were some doubts “whether it was a bullet or a fragment, you know, that struck his ear.”

Trump was injured in his right ear during a campaign rally on July 13 in Pennsylvania and survived what the FBI described as an assassination attempt when a gunman fired eight shots at him while he was delivering a speech.

No confirmation of the nature of Trump’s injury has been provided by any medical sources or law enforcement authorities, and Wray’s comments were the first official details from a senior official.

Two attendees of the rally were seriously injured in the attack, and a 50-year-old firefighter from Pennsylvania was killed by a bullet, according to officials. The gunman was killed by a sniper from the Secret Service.

Trump has made the assassination attempt a central theme in his campaign, stating before a crowd in Michigan that he “took a bullet for democracy.”

At his rallies, many of his supporters have been seen wearing bandages on their right ears, as a reference to the attack.

On Thursday, Trump denied Wray’s comments and accused him of political bias. Trump said, “Unfortunately, it was a bullet that struck my ear forcefully. There was no glass, and there were no fragments.”

A report by The New York Times published Friday stated that “a detailed analysis of the bullet trajectories, footage, images, and sound… strongly indicates that Trump was struck by the first of the eight shots fired by the gunman.”

Trump’s campaign has not released any medical reports but has cited statements from Jackson, the former White House doctor and close ally of the former president.

Jackson has been a controversial figure in the past, with a 2021 Department of Defense investigation concluding that he “disregarded his subordinates, bullied them, and demeaned them” during his time at the White House. The investigation also noted that he “made sexually and offensively charged remarks about one of his subordinates” and raised concerns about his use of sleeping pills while on duty.

In March, U.S. media reported that the U.S. Navy had demoted Jackson from the rank of Vice Admiral to Captain following the investigation.
