### Trump’s VP Nominee Calls Harris’ Presidential Run a “Surprise Strike”

The Washington Post obtained a recording in which JD Vance tells donors that “Harris does not bear the same personal and political burdens as Joe Biden.”

JD Vance, Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, described Kamala Harris’ entry into the presidential race following Joe Biden’s withdrawal as a “surprise strike,” according to a recording obtained by The Washington Post.

Speaking to donors he met with a few days ago, Vance said, “We all felt it was somewhat of a surprise strike,” according to the American newspaper. These comments contrast with the public messages of his campaign but reveal disruptions in a race that had been set for a showdown between Trump and Biden.

The Vance-Trump campaign insisted that the entry of the Democratic Vice President would not change their strategy, asserting that Harris shares responsibility for the policies of her president, Biden.

Jason Miller, a senior advisor to Trump, told Agence France-Presse at the Republican National Convention earlier this month, when speculation about Biden’s withdrawal was high, “Nothing fundamentally changed. Whether it’s Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, or any other extreme liberal Democrat, they all share responsibility for the failures that have destroyed our economy and wrecked our borders.”

However, Vance noted that “Harris does not bear the same personal and political burdens as Joe Biden, because, no matter what we can say, she is much younger. And clearly, she does not face the same difficulties.”

Harris emerged as the Democratic party’s candidate following the decision of the 81-year-old Biden to withdraw from the presidential race due to concerns over issues related to his age.

This left little time for the Democrats to coordinate their campaign for the November 5 election. However, her entry has also generated excitement among a large segment of voters who are tired of the repeated contention between Biden and Trump. It also highlights that the 78-year-old Trump, who is also prone to making gaffes in his often fragmented and confusing speeches, is the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history.
