### $310 Million: Harris Campaign Raises Twice as Much as Trump in July

The campaign of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris revealed that it raised $310 million in July, more than double the $138.7 million reported by former President Donald Trump and his affiliated committees for the same month.

Democrats had anticipated a fundraising dip following President Biden’s weak performance in the June debate, but Harris’s recently launched campaign generated a massive influx of donations.

Trump’s campaign announced on Thursday that they have $327 million in cash on hand, while Harris’s campaign reported on Friday that they have $377 million in the bank. Harris’s campaign touted its available funds as the largest war chest ever at this stage of an election cycle.

The July fundraising for both campaigns highlights the dramatic events of the month that have upended the 2024 race, according to Axios.

#### Outpacing Biden

Trump, who survived an assassination attempt last month, saw an increase from the approximately $112 million raised by his campaign and allied groups in June. Harris’s July fundraising also marked a substantial increase compared to June, when President Biden was still the candidate and raised $127 million.

Harris sparked a donation surge upon launching her campaign, raising $200 million in the first week alone. In their announcement on Friday, Harris’s campaign stated that two-thirds of the July donations came from first-time donors and that 94% of all contributions were less than $200. The campaign also highlighted that July was the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history.

#### Biden’s Withdrawal

Biden suspended his re-election bid on July 21 and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, for the November 5 election against Trump. Biden’s withdrawal came amid questions about his age and health following a faltering debate performance against Trump in late June.
