He added during a press conference in Tokyo, “I emphasize the right of (Israel) to defend its citizens and our insistence on ensuring they are able to do so,” adding, “But we also do not want to see the conflict escalate. We do not want to see it spread.”
**Ceasefire in Gaza**
He mentioned that reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza war would help calm the situation on Israel’s border with Lebanon.
He concluded by saying, “It is extremely important that we help de-escalate the conflict, not only to avoid its escalation and spread but to calm it down because you have many people in both countries, in Israel and Lebanon, who have been displaced from their homes.”
**Iranian-Made Missile**
Israel accused Hezbollah of being responsible for the rocket strike on the town of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights on Saturday, vowing a swift response.
It noted that a rocket landed on a football field in Majdal Shams, which is predominantly Druze, killing 12 children and teenagers aged between 10 and 16.
The Israeli military revealed that an Iranian-made missile with a warhead weighing 50 kg was launched by Hezbollah at Majdal Shams.
However, Hezbollah denied responsibility for the attack.
